The Street Courts of the Future is Here
Activation & Brand Experience • Film • Art Direction

Basketball in Manila is a way of life. Every Filipino lives and breathes it. They play hoops wherever and whenever they want. They devote hours to become better, but the lack of access to proper training hinders them from progressing.

Nike wanted to help and so a new basketball training platform was born. Hyper Courts transformed street courts into personalized coaches using data and design.

The Court that TalksAt the Hyper Court is a web app that creates a personal training program based on the player who you want to play like.

It shows you more than 80+ curated drills, unlocks exclusive content as you advance, and keeps track of your progress. All content load in HD with zero buffer, thanks to Google data tech.

The Murals that CoachIllustrated by Arturo Torres, the murals on the court consist of art elements that are based on the game data of the players. For example, the 5 spots where Kevin Durant isolates the most or the wings where Kyrie Irving makes 90% of his jumpshot are marked through the design elements.

The Creative WorkoutWe wanted to make the whole user experience fun and exciting. So we took inspiration from local nuissances to pop culture, making training feel less work and more play.

1000+ different assets. 600+ illustrations and design elements. 100+ videos. App built from the ground up.

The LeBron Wthin UsWe also created a film where we see Filipinos emulating LeBron James in amusing ways—replicating his signature plays, iconic celebrations, and unique mannerisms. Showing that fans could play like their favorite players with Hyper Court.

What’s the Lore?
When I was brought into the project as an art intern initially, it was still in its beta phase, just the barebones with a simplified tech. Beyond grateful to be mentored by Aste, the Regional Creative Director for Nike. Shadowed him in every step of the process, learned and soaked everything I could.

One year later, when everything was ready for production, I was called to join as a freelance AD. Call it baptism by fire figuratively and literally because this project ignited my love for the creative process even more. And it’s got two of my greatest loves—basketball and pop culture.

P.S. LeBron actually spoiled the Hyper Court to the world one week before we officialy launched it. He’s the King, he wasn’t reprimanded.
